Mon Aug 1 = Today I drove to the Wichita main library where I hung out until they closed at 8pm. Although it was hot and windy (103° F), according to the Internet, there was not enough wind forecast to warrant a trip out to Cheney Reservoir tomorrow after my TV appearance.
- I tried to get to bed early to be rested and perky for tomorrow.
- I did a heavy torso workout at a Planet Fitness then headed to my favorite Wichita overnight spot by Kohl's at "Goose Lake" with the morning shade of two little trees.
- Got to bed at 10:19
Tue Aug 2 = This morning I quickly fixed breakfast and ate some of it on the way to KAKE TV for my appearance with hosts Shane Ewing and Anette Lawless (my 1360th "performance"):
- Their large studio was awesome with a lot of fixed cameras. Their teleprompters were simply screens just above the camera lenses.
- After that I did a light full-body workout at a Planet Fitness.
- Then, at Wichita's Evergreen Community Center and Library, I corrected my Louonstage Past Appearances by adding my July 23rd phone call into the Leo Laporte Show to ask Mikah Sargent about getting back into my Square account. He was very helpful and the next day I got back into the account.
- Still catching up, I sent my July comedy profits to Banner Alzheimer's Research and uploaded, to YouTube, these TV Delmarva Life appearances from July 13th (just in case WBOC takes them down from their website):
- The WBOC studio was a little more personnel intensive. It was probably a little smaller, had fewer cameras but they were movable and manned. Their teleprompters were were reflected from a video screen below a 45° glass pane, so the stars would be looking directly at the lens, rather than just above it like at KAKE TV.
- At bedtime I found a Lowe's near my "Goose Lake" with even better morning shade, although I had a miserable night due to a combination of unbearable heat and diarrhea. For the heat I tried my little ceiling fan (blew only hot air), water mist (did not last long), idling van w AC on (didn't want to do that too long) and cracking the windows and moonroof from 3am-5:30am (made the heat tolerable, bringing the temperature down to about 89 degrees). Fortunately insects were not a problem at that time of the night.
- Got to bed at 9:38 for the miserable night.
Wed Aug 3 = Today I never made it to a gym, but did some shopping at Aldi and hung around the Evergreen Community Center and Library where I updated my website.
- I also phoned Christy Walker that I would not be using her as my realtor for selling
Dahlia
my Phoenix rental house located on Dahlia Drive
. I mentioned that I hate that part and always feel bad when I have to tell such qualified people I will not be using them. I will remember to use that approach in the future and always do it by phone since that is my best medium.
- Because I am not going to suffer through another night of unbarrable heat, I also checked several possible motels for the next few nights and arranged to stay at the Airport Inn & Lodge.
- I checked in at the motel, moved a bunch of stuff into my room, took a short nap and headed out for comedy.
- As I was unpacking my video equipment at the Loony Bin Comedy Club I realized that my SD cards and wide angle cameras were in my computer case... back at the motel. It took about 25 minutes to retrieve them and I still had time to set up my merch display and cameras.
- I was hanging around the Loony Bin show room setting up my cameras when they, without my knowledge, put out the list for tonight's open mic. When I got to the list, slots #3 to #17 were already taken, so I took #2. Then, as a favor to Paul, #1, who was waiting for some of his friends to appear, I took spot #1 so opened the show.
- Matt Sadler, the headliner for this weekend shows did a set. He didn't even mention that he was the headliner. Such a guy!
- Got to bed at the Airport Inn & Lodge at 11:10
Thu Aug 4 = It took me several tries to set the AC temperature and adjust the covers (ranging from nothing to a sheet) to maximize my sleep - especially with a couple of pesky flies.
- I siphoned the 11 oz of accumulated condensant from the bottom of my little refrigerator. Second time to do the deed this trip.
- For today's trip I drove up to the Maize Road Anytime Fitness for a heavy legs workout,
poster trim
weekly trimming of my beard, eye brows and little quiff so I match my poster photos
and a shower.
- Then to
The Loony Bin Comedy Club to hang out during the first weekend show, with host, Emily Grefer, Feature, Lawrence Rosales (very ballsy and funny) and Matt Sadler, Headliner (full of energy and hilarious). I did not know how anyone could be funnier when Lawrence was up, but Matt definitely succeeded.
- Got to bed at the Airport Inn & Lodge at 11:12
Fri Aug 5 = This morning I cleaned the yukky-appearing bottom rack of my Engle refrigerator.
- After breakfast I drove up on Maize Road to Walmart for some groceries and the nearby Planet Fitness for elliptical and a slow heavy arms workout.
- Since my van badly needed a wash, I squeezed in the touchless High Roller Car Wash, with blow dryers, 3835 W Central, Wichita KS and made it on time for the day's main event:
- I took out to breakfast/lunch, comedians Matt Sadler, Lawrence Rosales and Emily Grefer. We had a delightful hour visiting, mostly about comedy and our experiences on the road. All three insisted on paying their own tab!
- Back to my motel for a 1:13 hour nap in anticipation of staying up late for comedy.
- The evening's big events were the 7:30 and 10:00 comedy shows. I made a Guest appearance on the later show with my "new" Alzheimer's routine. Lawrence gave a good response to my comment that the audience was not very responsive with, "They made you work."
- Although I would be missing out on my beauty sleep, I stayed for the Loony Bin's Friday Night Midnight Open Mic. I did my Viagra Routing for about five minutes.
-
According to Google, here are the places I went on my travels during July, 2022:
- Got to bed at 1:37am
Sat Aug 6 = Before leaving the motel I updated this blog, added the Loony Bin comedians to my Fans web page, took care of some emails, which included stuff for selling my Dahlia rental house.
- My reward for still being alive was a long nap followed by a luxurious hot bath. Also I planed my route for driving tomorrow with a possible stop at Cheney Reservoir, if conditions warrent, to see my Wichita kiteboarding friends.
- On today's trip I finished my slow hevy three gym days with a torso workout at a south Wichita Planet Fitness, then on to the Loony Bin, wearing shorts and sandals since I was not expected to be on stage. In the unlikely event they would ask me to do a guest set, or even a feature set, I had something ready making fun of my attire. I WAS going to wear a tank top but chickened out at the last moment in the parking lot and put on my usual white t-shirt and regular comedy shirt.
- The Loony Bin was packed for the 7:30 show, they laughed a lot, were responsive and the biggest and best crowd of the week. There was a smaller crowd for the 10pm show and they were not as responsive.
- I said, "Goodby" to my old friends at the club and my new comedian friends:
and headed back home, to the motel.
- Over the last few days I found that I slept best in the motel with the AC set at 84 degrees and nothing on or 82 degrees with a sheet on. The latter was good when a pesky fly was in the room.
- Got to bed at 12:36
Sun Aug 7 = I didn't get away from the motel until noon because I took care of emails, organized disclosure documents on a thumb drive for selling
Dahlia
my Phoenix rental house located on Dahlia Drive
, updated this blog and moved from the motel to my van. Then I stopped by Walmart for a little final shopping and Office Max to print out the Dahlia documents, in case I have some extra time on my hands during the drive.
- I got gas and some new fans:
- I arrived for the night at the Edgewood, NM Walmart in the rain and used an umbrella to go in for my poo &: pee.
- On the way I drove in four states (KS OK TX NM).
- Got to bed at 10:55
Mon Aug 8 = Got away from Edgewood a little before 9am and drove all the way to Payson, AZ to visit with
Rose Anne
My X wife who lives in Payson by a lake
. We enjoyed catching up and some of her ice cream and my Hostess Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cakes.
- What a change in climate when I got here to Phoenix: 104 degrees. Before arriving at home I did light legs and arms workouts at my local Anytime Fitness.
- I got everything unloaded from my van in about an hour and then had supper.
- From my neighbor, I picked up my mail and four packages:
Inline 12v water pump replaced under warranty. It will be a spare since I bought one from Granger in April in El Paso.
Western Digital with my "repaired" 5TB hard drive
Two goLEDgo signs which Amazon delivered, which I did not order. Now I have four of 'em)
- For bedtime, I activated my CPAP and uped my Sleep Number bed from 60 to 90, hoping to be good to my back.
- Got to bed at 11pm
Tue Aug 9 = Today was mostly website and hosting day. I am glad for what I accomplished.
- I figured how to send emails from Louis@arizonalou.com (instead of contact@arizonalou.com) after I put the project on the shelf for a couple of weeks. Now my show booking emails should get through better.
- I am going to try and eliminate arizonaloukiteobarder.com and just have arizonalou.com, so spent time chatting with HostGator (my website host).
- I joined and activated Google Search Console for my website.
- I used xml-sitemaps.com to make a site map of arizonalou.com, uploaded it to my website and added it to my new Google Search Console.
- Hopefully all this will result in search engines finding arizonalou.com instead of arizonaloukiteboarder.com (which is now https...
- If so, I'll be able to let arizonaloukiteboarder.com go the way of the dodo bird when it expires in a month.
- At solar noon, under a thin overcast, I lay in the sun (the first time in about two months) for 20 minutes.
- I did my initial mail sort.
- Got to bed at 10:45
Wed Aug 10 = Google search results are still going to https://www.arizonaloukiteboarder.com instead of to https://www.arizonalou.com :(
- Allright, I impulsed this morning and changed my email links from contact@arizonalou.com to Louis@arizonalou.com for -openforlou mailtoopenforlou and contact. I'll try to change all other occurrences in the next week or so.
- Shopping was important today because I was running out of food, having just returned from tour. I made my shopping list then went to Walmart for a cheap foam ice chest, which they did not have, then to the new Aldi to find they have no fat free cheese slices, fat free cottage cheese or beef lunchmeat, then to Winco for food and an ice chest to keep my frozen and refrigerated foods cold during the rest of my trip, LA Fitness for a slow, heavy legs workout,
poster trim
weekly trimming of my beard, eye brows and little quiff so I match my poster photos
and shower, and finally then to Fry's Food for blueberries on sale.
- I finally did it. I cracked a phone screen! I dropped my phone on the garage floor when getting out of my van. It is just a single hairline crack, hardly noticeable and does not effect the phone's functionality in any way, but there the crack is. In my comedy shows, I have always made fun of people with cracked cell phone screens. Now I have my own.
- At the gym, I found that my friend, Tim Dupriest who has the Power Station "juice bar" at LA Fitness might be interested in buying
Dahlia
my Phoenix rental house located on Dahlia Drive
.
- I thought I'd try something new for my evening routine: Get things wrapped up for the day and outlined for tomorrow by 9:30, then reward myself by relaxing on the couch and watching some of Jimmy Fallon's monologues that were recorded during the last four months while I was away.
- Got to bed at 10:08
Thu Aug 11 = I was finishing up some shopping when Tim phoned that his wife wanted to look at
Dahlia
my Phoenix rental house located on Dahlia Drive
, so I went over and showed it to her and their daughter.
- On the way home, Home Depot replaced a mailbox key because the one I left for my neighbors did not work very well. Thank you, Home Depot!
- I had a full day, among other things, working on the 7-page Seller's Property Disclosure Statement (SPDS) for Dahlia.
- Got to bed at 10:24
Fri Aug 12 = Today I got the Seller's Property Disclosure Statement (SPDS) for Dahlia finished.
- Before I could email it to Sherri, I had to convert all eight pages to a PDF file.
- To do that I had to scan it with my portable iRIScan scanner
- Before I could do that I had to install new AAAs in the scanner
- Before I could do that I had to buy some.
- Before I could do that I had to go to Harbor Freight to buy more because I only had three and the scanner needed four.
- Before I could do that I had to make sure Harbor Freight had the 24-pack.
- To do that I had to go online
- When I went to Harbor Freight, I found they lied and they were out of the 24-pack.
- I bought their more expensive 18-pack and stopped by Albertson's for eggs and Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Franks.
- Back home, I finally got the SPDS scanned and emailed to Sherri
- This evening I updated my website and this blog for the last two days, went to my home Planet Fitness for a slow heavy torso workout and got bulk walnuts and raisins at Winco.
- I finally, although accidently (because it was an hour earlier than I thought) implemented my new evening routine. After getting ready for bed, I chilled out on the couch and watched Jimmy Fallon for about 15 minutes with no daylight lights on.
- Got to bed at 9:46
Sat Aug 13 = Instead of starting projects first thing, I spent this morning organizing my time. That meant listening to my ICD voice notes and planning appropriate actions.
- I surely like my new CO2 monitor. I ordered it Tuesday and it was delivered Wednesday
The Aranet 4 Home Wireless Air Quality Monitor will tell you how fresh your air is and will give you an idea of when a high CO2 level will reduce your mental allertness. It is expensive, at $250, but is really cool. The phone app keeps records and gives you graphs. The Aranet 4 Home is portable and the two AA batteries last 2.8 years with a 5-minute sampling interval (1.2 years with a 2-minute sampling interval).
- This morning you could find me measuring the freshness of the air (CO2 levels) all around the inside and outside of my house. Interesting. So I aired out
- This afternoon I got my van's oil changed and new tires. I got the Yokohama YK-CTX which are recommended for my van (way down the list), should give a quiet ride and, according to customers, the greatest miles per dollar.
- Got to bed at 10:15
Sun Aug 14 = After measuring the CO2 levels in my house, I looked up some IRS rules and found that my long term capital gains will effect neither my taxable income nor my tax bracket.
- As you might expect, I spent considerable time entertaining and evaluating offers on
Dahlia
my Phoenix rental house located on Dahlia Drive
- I paid my credit cards and downloaded Google Wallet and Google Pay to my Android. I gave up trying to set them up because the cards I supposedly added kept appearing and disappearing from my phone and computer.
- Got to bed at 10:10
Mon Aug 15 = I got up early this morning with a lot on my mind and needing to pee after being in bed just an hour and 58 minutes after my previous pee :(
- I spent much time working on the sale of
Dahlia
my Phoenix rental house located on Dahlia Drive
and my website. Also I reorganized things for evaluating the posts where I did my tour shows - hoping to make it more efficient.
- I still haven't had time to stow all the stuff from my tour :(
- Got to bed at 10:40
Tue Aug 16 = After breakfast I reviewed some of the manual for my Panasonic DMC FZ-150 camera and then took the camera outside and took a dozen pictures of my house, which the HOA says needs to be repainted.
- At solar noon, I lay in the sun for 20 minutes for my quota of vitamin D. They say, as we get older, our skin is less efficient at producing it.
- Today's trip was to the east and a little north: To pick up a pair of the best sunglasses I have ever had (thank you Horizon Eye Specialists) and Mountainside Fitness where I did light fast arms and torso workouts and met some young which I added to my fan web page:
- Got to bed at 9:55 after relaxing on the couch with no daylight lights on and watching Jimmy Fallon's monologue from last night.
Wed Aug 17 = Terri, from my HOA phoned this morning. According to her I MUST repaint my house, even if the paint is still in good condition and I would be painting it the same color - :( - gotta pick from their new palette of colors!
- This afternoon I did my monthly blog rollover, tieing my record by doing it in 13:29 minutes.
- It took me 1:05 hours, including 10 minutes to arrange everything, to rate 5 posts, with a ranges from 4-7 (9 maximum possible).
- Got to bed at 10:33
Thu Aug 18 = I have been experiencing a little stabbing lower back pain, having been using my sleep number bed for nine nights since I got back from tour. Back pain was no problem during the tour because I spent the nights on the custom bed I engineered for my van. Last night, in the middle of the night I brought the matress in from my van so it would be handy to use next time.
- To keep my HOA at bay, I have started having painters come over to talk to me about the need and cost of repainting my house
- Veterans post ratings for five posts from my tour was my target for an hour this afternoon.
- I did my laundry; one load using a Color Catcher so I could combine whites and colors.
- At 3:30 I was getting drowsy at my computer so took a 13-minute nap... on my van mattress on the floor beside my Sleep Number bed using my CPAP.
- A BIG job was cleaning my van's little Engle refrigeratorconsidering. It had not been cleaned since I left on tour April 5th.
- About 4:30 I drove to Mountainside Fitness for a slow heavy arms workout
- This evening I resolved my checking. It was off, different by 1 penny, from previous months.
- I replaced the Mansfield flush valve seal in the hall toilet.
- Got to bed at 10:29 sleeping on my van mattress on the floor beside my Sleep Number bed where I have access to my CPAP.
Fri Aug 19 = For last night, sleeping on my van mattress instead of on my Sleep Number bed (with which I have tried lot s of settings, most recently 100), my Oura Ring (right) showed 90 for a sleep score (vs 75), 37 minutes of deep sleep (vs 19), and 8:15 sleep time (vs 8:10), in spite of being in bed less time: only 9:23 (vs 10:01).
- The problem is, when you buy the typical mattress, it is a different mattress after you have slept on it for several months.
- This afternoon I spent too much time rating five more veterans' posts from my tour but it was neat to relive some of my experiences by watching some of the videos in the process. I am up through Jun 23rd for the American Legion Post 176 in Springfield, VA
- It got late and dark this evening before I got out the door for Planet Fitness so I did torso workouts in my home gym: light fast followed by slow and heavy.
- Got to bed at 10:03 on my van mattress on the floor and aired out in the middle of the night again.
Sat Aug 20 = After two nights on my van mattress on the bedroom floor my back feels so much better.
- I decided to do one thing before starting on today's work and ended up spending the whole morning. The thing was attempting to figure out how to record or download a video, as mine from KAKE TV.. I downloaded and installed the VLC Media Player, one of the best and most powerful. Never got it to download the video. :(
- Today I also checked out self-inflating 4-inch thick air mattresses like I use as part of my van mattress, only queen sized for my master bedroom. The thin mattress seems to give me better support for my back. The only mattresses they make in queen are thick ones.
o Queen bed 60x80x8-12"
o Full bed 54x75x8-12"
o New Camp 51x80x3" KingCamp Luxury Self-inflating
o Van bed 25x76x4"
o Futon 53x74x7"
- I didn't get around to working on my veteran post ratings until almost 8pm. It took me only 6 minutes to set up everything and I worked on them until bedtime.
- Just before turning in, I brushed and flossed while relaxed on the couch with the Jimmy Fallon monologue from last night.
- Got to bed at 10:19
Sun Aug 21 = !--This morning I finished all the post ratings from my tour! Now I have no excuse for not starting the booking phase for 2023
- This afternoon, for repainting my house, I sent in an archetectural request. Yes, the HOA management company makes you submit one.
- With my cell phone app, I learned some interesting things about the fresh air levels in my house from my new Aranet 4 Home CO2 monitor.
- The first cell phone screen shot shows from bedtime (759ppm) to bedtime (869ppm) in my house. The 2:20am (511ppm) dip occurred when I aired out the house. The 6:20pm dip (440ppm) occurred when I put the monitor out on my back patio in the fresh air for a while.
- The second cell phone screen shot shows three days with the monitor on my dresser. The shorter red spikes (1230ppm and 1168ppm) occurred in the mornings while I was panting at my dresser and recording my exercycle ride. The high (2826ppm) spike occurred when I was exhaling directly into the monitor.
- The Monitor will tell you how fresh your air is (the lower CO2 the fresher) and will give you an idea of when a high CO2 level will reduce your mental alertness (above 1000ppm). The Aranet is expensive, at $250, but is really cool. The phone app keeps records and gives you graphs. The Aranet 4 Home is portable and the two AA batteries last 2.8 years with a 5-minute sampling interval (1.2 years with a 2-minute sampling interval).
- Today was my gym day off.
- Got to bed at 10:39
Mon Aug 22 = This afternoon I was so proud that I made my planned stops at Aldi (for Broccoli) and LA Fitness (where I did my
poster trim
weekly trimming of my beard, eye brows and little quiff so I match my poster photos
and took a shower), navigated all the construction and road closures and made it to Prime Eyecare with two minutes to spare for my 3pm semi-annual appointment... except the appointment was at 2:30. They graciously took me anyway.
- Dr Pyritz found my macular degeneration was unchanged, my optic nerve was normal and that the LASER weld they did at the edge of the retina 7.5 years ago was still holding.
I am disgusted at the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT)' frustrating website as a result of renewing my driver license tonight. They would have fixed these half-baked things if they were competent or they carred.
1) The survey, linked from their website, did not have a selection for online interaction through their website (only physical offices).
2) They said the USA ID might be good for 8 years. What in the world does this vague comment mean for ME? Their explanation popup was of no help. I should have three more years on mine.
3) Many of the questions did not make sense because I ALREADY receive my early voting ballots by mail and am ALREADY an organ donor.
4) They cheated me out of a day this year because my license does not expire until tomorrow. Last renewal they cheated me out of three months since I renewed early, three months before expiration. How do I get my license to expire on my birthday like it used to?
5) At 80, they should have charged me $10 but charged me $25
6) Their temporary paper license is too large for the wallet
7) It says it is not valid for something, but does not say what.
8) Their website invited me to chatt, made me answer a bunch of questions, then said they were closed and ended the chatt :( :( :(
- Got to bed at 10:24
Tue Aug 23 = This morning I researched mattresses on Consumer Report and found the best one, which some people still didn't find was good for their backs in spite of its $3000+ price tag, and decided I will continue with my plan to make my own.
- Making a little difference and being a good guy, I filled out a detailed Consumer Report survey for my Sedona SX minivan.
- I live chatted with an ADOT lady to "complain" about all the problems with their website. Her are in caps:
1) The survey, linked from their website, did not have a selection for online interaction through their website (only physical offices) SHE WILL PASS IT ALONG.
2) They said the USA ID might be good for 8 years. What in the world does this vague comment mean for ME? Their explanation popup was of no help. I should have three more years on mine SHE SAID THAT IT IS ONLY 5 YEARS FOR THOSE OVER 65 AND EXPIRES THE DAYE OF ITS ISSUANCE.
3) Many of the questions did not make sense because I ALREADY receive my early voting ballots by mail and am ALREADY an organ donor THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE.
4) They cheated me out of a day this year because my license does not expire until tomorrow. THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS
5) At 80, they should have charged me $10 but charged me $25 - THE $25 IS FOR THE USA ID.
6) Their temporary paper license is too large for the wallet.
7) It says it is not valid for something, but does not say what. IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON YOU ARE SHOWING IT TO.
8) Their website invited me to chatt, made me answer a bunch of questions, then said they were closed and ended the chatt SHE WILL PASS IT ALONG
SHE ABBRUPTLY ENDED THE CHATT.
- I DocuSigned a bunch of stuff from the title agency in Chandler for selling
Dahlia
my Phoenix rental house located on Dahlia Drive
. I found that a LSU is a Loan Status Update.
- Tonight I just wanted to put my brain in idle mode so measured the laughs and percentage of time laughing at the show I did in Cleveland (5 laughs per minute and laughing 22% of the time). This took a little over an hour for the 68-minute show. My percentages would have been better if I had not spent so much time talking about my merch or if I would have made it funnier. I'll have to work on that.
- Got to bed at 10:30
Wed Aug 24 = Before breakfast I went to Dr Murphy for my annual physical. Things seem to be going quite well. They took a fasting blood sample.
- In the parking lot after seeing the doctor I ate some cereal, nuts and fruit I had prepared and then stopped by Anytime Fitness on the way home for a heavy legs workout.
- I could not find my Jabra Stealth Bluetooth headset... anywhere when I got back from the doctor's office. It is my favorite and I know it will show up eventually somewhere. In the meantime I put a Triple-A in my 18-year-old Jabra BT110 and got it working, thanks to an old instruction manual I had on my computer. I also started some other old bluetooth headsets charging as backups.
- Amazon delivered the lift-off correction tape cartridge for my IBM Wheelwriter 6. The tape corrects. The cartridge I had, new from a box, did not work because it was dried out... until I wound it forward about 8" then it worked better than the "new" one. I also found the original IBM correction cartridge that came with the Wheelwriter when I bought it at a garage sale. Now I have enough correction cartridges to last me about 40 years.
- I occasionally use the IBM Wheelwriter to fill out a pre-printed paper form, but mostly use its programmable feature to fill in donation envelopes and such.
- Amazon also delivered my new mattress... well it is a 3" thick 50x76" self-nflating camp mattress. Four inches thick would fit into my bed scheme a little better, but 3" is the thickest I could find in a double-bed size.
- Of course I researched the ideal height of beds: they say 16-25," but for seniors 20-24." Why? To accommodate wheelchair use. I'm not there yet! Also researched the sizes of beds:
Full bed is just another name for a double bed. Do not look at the last bed chart unless you like being confused.
- I am thinking about selling my queen-sized Sleep Number Bed and maybe get a double bedbox for the new mattress I am making. That will give me more space in my bedroom/gym.
- Got to bed at 10:30
Thu Aug 25 = This morning I found a broken link on my Definitions web page, so of course I fixed it with this
apple varieties chart:
- This afternoon I stopped by the gym for a
poster trim
weekly trimming of my beard, eye brows and little quiff so I match my poster photos
and shower on the way to my dentist - my second time to his office. They did their usual thorough job. You might even say it was fun.
- On the way home I stopped by the gym again, only this time for a slow hevy arms workout and then by Safeway for a cantaloupe on sale and Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Home Depot, looking for something elastic to use in hanging up my Merchandise Banner at comedy shows. The best solution was a jar of 10 little bungees from Home Depot.
- Major mistake: At Home Depot I parked up nice and close to a tree for a little shade. A branch extended far enough over the parking place to scrape my van's right D-pillar. It did not dent anything but did scuff the paint quite a bit. I hate that!
- Since I am cleaning out the master bedroom in preparation to sell my Sleep Number Bed, I moved everything for sleeping into the library floor for the night. This afternoon I took a nap on the guest futon in the library and decided my van mattress on the floor would be better for my back.
- Got to bed at 10:14.
Fri Aug 26 = I had to... strike that... I GOT to make some booking phone calls this morning. I didn't get to speak with the people, but did leave some messages.
- Major advancement or major disaster for my website: This afternoon and evening I spent several hours doing two live chats with my web host, HostGator. The goal is to ditch arizonaloukiteboarder.com and have only arizonalou.com.
- I also spent some time with John in the Philippines of Godaddy, my domain registrar.
- After all those questions and that research, at 8:10pm MST, I removed arizonaloukiteboarder.com from the Internet.
- aizonalou.com is still around and seems to come up with most internet searches.
- Last night I experienced a little back pain. Maybe my van bed on the library floor was too soft since it was on top of the carpeting. Tonight I am going to be sleeping on my new 3" thick King Camp self-inflating double-bed mattress on the floor to the east of the kitchen island.
- Got to bed at 11:12 :(
Sat Aug 27 = This morning the 3" thick King Camp self-inflating double-bed mattress lost enough air that my hips, back and buttox were down on the floor so today I used my my Filter Queen vacuum cleaner (on blow, of course), to not get moisture in the mattress, to reinflated it.
- On this afternoon's trip I did a Planet Fitness workout, got some food and got four new fans for a total of 299 so far:
Tom Lipinicki; Fry's; Phoenix AZ; 8/27/22
Scott & Ian Hooyman; Planet Fitness; Phoenix AZ; 8/27/22
Grant Herndon; Planet Fitness; Phoenix AZ; 8/27/22
- Got to bed at 10:16 on my reinflated King Camp mattress on the floor to the east of the kitchen island.
Sun Aug 28 = You may binge with TV and movies, but this morning, after hearing Clark Howard mention CO detectors, I binged on research and decided that the one to order for portable use in my van and other places is the FORENSICS QE-3PXO-JFX. I put it on my To Buy list, downloaded the instruction manual and scheduled ordering it the last of February in time for my comedy trip to western Arizona in March.
- Since the CO2 level in my house got up to 1121ppm this morning, having not aired out for three days, I aired out for about 40 minutes at about 11:30am. Not a very efficient time to do it, but at least the house's CO2 level got down to 717ppm. That is when the humidity spiked at 45%. All these measurements were recorded by my Aranet 4 CO2 monitor sitting on the return of the desk in my office, which adjoins the great room.
- At solar noon, I lay in the sun for 20 minutes then rode my exercycle real fast for 2 minutes to flush everything out.
- I am running out of groceries, three weeks after getting back home and doing my shopping. This afternoon I phoned Joann, my Duet shopping partner. She was experiencing the same thing so yesterday ordered groceries delivered to her from Fry's. We agreed to move our first shopping expedition to September 15th.
- Because of that, I made my shopping list, went to LA Fitness for a light fast legs workout then on to Winco and Bashas' for 19 days worth of groceries.
- Got to bed at 10:32 on my van mattress on the floor to the east of the kitchen island.
Mon Aug 29 = In the middle of last night I aired out the house for a couple of hours, as I plan to do every night until the weather gets too cold, so am enjoying fresher air inside today. That is what my Aranet 4 CO2 monitor tells me, but I don't actually notice that much difference.
- Today went like clockwork... and on time. I got a haircut at the nearest barber shop, bought super glue at 99¢ only (so did not have to go to Harbor Freight or Dollar Tree) and went to Mountainside Fitness for a light arms workout,
poster trim
weekly trimming of my beard, eye brows and little quiff so I match my poster photos
and shower.
- This afternoon I rescued my logo magnetic signs from the side of my van. It is time to order new ones, as my old ones tend to stick to the paint. I had to use some paint thinner to remove the residue.
- It is a pain that my camcorders split the hour long recordings into multiple files This evening I tried a Windows solution. It was slower than doing it with Cyberlink PowerDirector. It is a slow process to re-encode an hour's worth of video files as a single video. Researching and trying it all put me to bed late.
- Before going to bed I let enough air out of my 3" self-inflating King Camp air mattress to give me a more comfortable sleep, with my hipps barely off the floor.
- Got to bed at 11:42 on the floor to the east of the kitchen island.
Tue Aug 30 = Today's big project was figuring how to effeciently combine multiple video files created by my stupid video cameras. They split up my hour show into short videos.
- I found the needle in the haystack, thanks to Cristi Cotovan . His YouTube Channel has videos
on an unbelievable number of topics. Merging Video Files
without re-encoding will save me hours of work and improve the quality of my output. He uses Lossless-Cut, created by Mikael Finstad from Norway, an app that does not even have to be installed on your computer.
Thanks Crisit!
- I feel really good about what I accomplished, but I got in bed late.
- Got to bed at 10:53
Wed Aug 31 = Well, I tried to make a contribution but found no way, even after joining GitHub. Mikael Finstad from Norway created lossless-cut, an excellent, efficient, fast and free open source app for combining shorter videos files from my cameras. They split up my hour show into several files). Mikael should add a donate button to his web page.
- This afternoon I outlined the dates at various geographical locations for my 2023 road tour. Before I did that, I found a US map and figured how to change it to light gray so my dates would show up.
- Since my taxes are going to be more complicated for 2022, this afternoon I had an appointment with Steve at the 7 St and Bell H&R Block. It looks like I will be using their online software with a Tax Pro backup.
- I stopped by LA Fitness for a short heavy legs workout on the way to my first comedy performance since tour: El Charro Hipster. It was neat to see a bunch of my comedian friends.
- Got to bed at 10:38
