Thu Apr 1 = Happy April Fool's Day. It is not a joke that the Google Hangouts, which Google sort of forced me into, has lost its ability for me to send messages :(
- I sent more than $300 to Duet for donations and merch sales for the first quarter of 2021. While I was at it I projected my budget through August (the end of my Tour), corrected a few minor errors I found and archived my check register for 2020.
- This afternoon I remembered my Life Events file that I had online and revised it. It was embarrassing since I did not have my computer with me Monday, to not be able to tell my flight surgeon the dates of some of my medical procedures.
- I'm all nuts! This afternoon I figured how much of each kind of nuts I have on hand, how much I will need to the end of my tour and how much I need to buy. In the process I cleared out the bottom of my freezer where I had stored lots of nuts from when they were on sale.
- I received word that Aunt Laura, my favorite aunt and the last of 12 from mom's generation, died last night at 98. She was always accepting and made me glad when I was with her. With her sense of humor I know she tried, but didn't quite make it to April Fools Day. Only one hour and 30 minutes would have done it. Aunt Laura, at least you tried! Love Lou
- Got to bed at 11:39 :()
Fri Apr 2 = First thing this morning I dug the prickle mat from under my bed and spread it out where I will walk on it during the night and the day to toughen up my feet for kiteboarding along the gulf coast, east coast and maybe other places.
- I phoned Denise, the estate gal, at Desert Financial Credit Union. I think she had forgotten about me because she had not done anything yet. She said she would get the draft to me this afternoon, which she did.
- To my past poster web page, I added this award-winning picture of me at the American Legion Post 69 in Cincinnati during last year's tour.
- Big, semi-useless trip this afternoon and evening. I drove down to the Indian School 99¢ Only store for some bread and stuff and Urban Beans to pick up the yellow 25' extension cord I left there last Saturday, only to find Urban Beans closed :(
- LA Fitness gym, Moon Valley was my next stop for a short heavy slow arms workout. I had a short visit with my gym-friend Sheldon, who I had not seen for a long time. He bought one of my T-Shirts and is now on my Fans web page. Here he is, Mr Clean!
- Then on to Winco Foods for tissues and enough of various nuts to last through my tour.
- Final stop was the Union Hills Dollar Tree for mustard. Now I have all the food I need to start my trip.
- Got to bed at 10:59 :()
Sat Apr 3 = Organizing my nuts today took a lot of extra time but should save time getting ready for future trips. I have found that polyethylene bags, such as ZipLoc ones to not prevent the cross-transfer of flavors between contents, such as cinemon, cashews, garlic to other things. As you can see here, I started using heavy duty bags such as powdered milk and CPAP parts come in.
- This afternoon I went to Anytime Fitness gym for a short slow heavy torso workout where Oscar Hernandez, a local comedian friend of mine, met me so I could give him his special-order T-Shirt: long sleeved with the logo on the back, no less.
- This evening I input five additional email requests into my fan club email list, made 30 more email request blanks and vacuumed the van. Next thing is to wash the insides of the van windows.
- Got to bed at 10:28
Sun Apr 4 = Why not weigh my T-Shirts, just out of curiosity? I've got 46 pounds of T-Shirts are in my Merch box, plus 9 pounds in the Shirt-Case I take to open mics for a total of 55 pounds for the 96 T-Shirts
- This morning I tested and reinstalled my van's running water system and checked and brought my little refrigerator from the garage to my kitchen. For the next few days, I'll load it as I use it until I leave. On this trip it will save a lot of bother and take the place of about 1,200 pounds of ice.
- After lunch I went down for a visit with
Harold and Bernadette
my EX-brother-in-law and his wife
and had a little Easter desert with them. You might say that I had tomorrow night's treat: a small piece of pumpkin pie and a chocolate chip cookie.
- On the way home I stopped at Bashas' for grapes on sale and paper bags with handles. In my van, instead of storing my nuts in the passenger floor area in boxes, this year I am going to try brown paper grocery bags. It will be easier to see what is in them, retrieve what I am looking for and I can throw out the bags as they get empty.
- The BIG project, after I discovered the trust/estate draft in my email box, was to go over the 80 pages. What a job, and it HAD to be done today so I could get the final and official thing done before I leave.
-
Larry
Larry Biller, my friend and landscaper (wife is Dianne)
came over to pick up my five surplus eggs and a couple of bananas. Surplus because I can't leave any food in my kitchen during my trip. He brought over, piping hot, some of Dianne's delicious stuffed cabbage - made with lean ground turkey. It was my supper.
- This evening I did my last load of laundry, organized my office drawer and made a special holder in it for my Reiner date printer.
- Before bed I requested a refund for a set of juggling scarves from Amazon that I have not received after over two months. I have been unable to contact the seller.
- Got to bed at 10:21
Mon Apr 5 = The refund was approved.
- First thing this morning was to phone Denise, the estate gal, at Desert Financial Credit Union. I decided the best approach was to do all my grouching with humor up front and then be Mr. Nice Guy. It worked because, with her help we did the signing this afternoon, in spite that she was booked back-to-back for the next few days. Thank you Denise!
- This afternoon I cleaned the inside of my van windows using my special window-washing microfiber bar tool and my Karcher WV 50 rechargeable vacuum squeegee. I also remounted the three suction cups on the windshield that hold my dash cam and GPS receivers after cleaning them and the windshield with rubbing alcohol, as recommended by Garmin.
- A little later I met
George & Cindy
my younger brother and his wife who live in Mesa, Arizona and have a mountain place in Christopher Creek
at a Chick-Fil-A in Scottsdale for our last visit before my trip.
- It was sort of an impulse, but something I had been considering a long time. This evening, for the first time in its 11-year history, I vacuumed and blew off my refrigerator condenser coils. They actually weren't too bad since I have a good filter on my HVAC and have no pets.
- Got to bed at 10:47 :()
Tue Apr 6 = I phoned Design-A-Shirt to discuss the light ink on on the latest order.
- For Aunt Laura's memorial, I sent Sharman a number of old family pictures I have with her.
- It was a little sooner than usual, but I want to look good (if that is possible at my age) so cut hairs and took a bath.
- This afternoon I went to my dentist. Due to the difficulty of using a water pick on my trips, I'll try a very vigorous swish technique instead.
- I loaded up all the comedy stuff into my van.
- This evening I planned details of my drive to El Paso, including Walmarts with overnight parking and, in El Paso, gyms close to the VFW posts where I will be doing my shows. I can leave Thursday and still get to El Paso in plenty of time
- Got to bed at 10:50 :()
Wed Apr 7 = Charlotte NC canceled my show due to COVID-19. Unfortunate because Geo Wagner was going to open for me. He will still open for me on OBX and in Newport News, VA.
- Did some non-essential things, but more efficient and cheaper done here at home before I leave: I made a bunch more Comedy-n-Sunset MICRO posters and washed bed linens so I'll come home to clean stuff.
- I headed southeast in the afternoon and made it as far as the Marana AZ Walmart for the night.
- Got to bed at 9:20 :)
Thu Apr 8 = Driving on to El Paso I thought of all the things I could do and places to go upon my arrival. It turns out that my first top was an Office Depot to make mini-posters for my two shows here in El Paso.
- Then to The Comic Strip, where I thought I might get a gust spot. That did not work out, but I did enjoy the interesting show hosted by Zeke Carter. He was a Black mix, along with most of the rest of the comedians on the show who talked mostly about race. No, not about going fast.
- Got to bed at 11:34 :()
Fri Apr 9 = Paying for admission to The Comic Strip last night, I noticed my Citibank credit card was missing. I thoroughly checked all the compartments in my wallet in case I had thoughtlessly put it in the wrong place. No where to be found, so I double checked online for place I last used the card and drove about 44 miles out of the way to retrieve it at the Office Depot where I had made copies yesterday on my way into town. I was so relieved when I got into the store and found the card... in one of my pants pockets where I evidently had put it yesterday instead of putting it in my wallet where it belonged.
- After a short slow heavy legs workout at a Planet Fitness gym, followed by short light arms and torso workouts at a Planet Fitness, I headed down to the VFW Post 10354.
- The comedy experience was disappointing to say the least. I arrived at 4pm. The post was supposed to open, according to the Internet, at 3pm. It did not open until 5pm, courtesy of the hard-working bar tender, Krystal. She helped set up things for the show. Thank you Krystal.
- Post publicity seemed to be lacking. I only saw two small (11x17") posters for the show in the hall and none in the bar. A big conflicting meeting for bikers was scheduled for the patio at the same time.
- For our comedy show there was no one (0) from the post. Thank goodness, John, my opener had invited some of his El Paso friends from when he lived here. We had four audience members for a total audience of six with John and his wife Valarie. Other than that, it was a good show with a good audience.
- Got to bed at 10:59 at a Walmart - better than last night.
Sat Apr 10 = This afternoon before comedy, I went to a different Planet Fitness gym for a heavy arms workout
- VFW Post 812 was awesome - probably the best post so far in my 7.5 year comedy career. They had put forth considerable effort into making the show successful. They had this 5' poster where people would see it coming into the bar.
... so they had full hall, considering COVID-19, of 40 responsive audience members.
- Nate Lopez, the commander presented John Cowan and me certificates of appreciation - my first for a comedy show.
- In addition to selling two Arizona Lou Album #2s, I sold a record number of 14 T shirts after the show and got more good people for my Fans Web Page.
- Got to bed at 10:59, east of the post for quiet and, in the morning, shade.
Sun Apr 11 = It took me until after noon to get all six media files from last night uploaded and to find the stuff I had lost, which included my show icon cheat sheet, my van's key fob, and the mesh pouch with last night's media in it. I did discover that the Faraday bag for the spare key fob I carry in my van would not shield dependably unless I had the fob in doubled Faraday bags, which was a trick.
- My phone quit connecting to any network so, I have been unable to check things out or make and receive phone calls.
- I drove to Sonora, TX where I spent the night in the parking lot of a strip motel... the first Super 8 by Wyndham that I saw like that.
- Got to bed at 9:49 :)
Mon Apr 12 = This was mostly a driving day. I arrived in San Antonio about 5pm. Since it is two days until my first show on Wednesday in New Braunfels, I went straight to the three major TV stations to familiarize myself with their locations, for the outside chance that they would like a story about my tour.
- I had to drive way up to a Staples, which closes at 9 because I had Office Depot print an old version of my Announcing slips just before they closed at 8.
- I spent considerable time planing my strategy for tomorrow morning to get in TV station visits and see the Aunt Laura's live streamed funeral service.
- I spent the night at a strategically located located Walmart near the 410 Loop where I did some necessary grocery shopping before turning in for the night.
- Got to bed at 10:45 for an excellent quiet but short night, with my alarm setfor 7:00am.
Tue Apr 13 = This was not a good day. First thing this morning, I started my breakfast oatmeal soaking and headed to WOAJ NBC TV to see Anette, the receptionist, at 8:00. Turns out that she did not get there until about a half hour later than me. She explained that practically everyone at the station was working from home and gave me an email address for their news desk.
- I phoned KSTA ABC TV's tip line with my information.
- It took two tries to find a gym. Gold's Gym did not work because they were a franchised location and my card was no good. Planet Fitness was good. I did a
poster trim
weekly trimming of my beard, eye brows and little quiff so I match my poster photos
, took a shower, did a short slow heavy legs workout and watched Aunt Laura's funeral.
- I watched Aunt Laura's funeral service at the Your Awakening Church in Colorado Springs. The service was well done, but more about religion than about my aunt.
- One good thing, I finally got Square working on my phone again.
- Not good was phoning the VFW Post#7110 in New Braunfels, TX and finding that they had canceled tomorrow night's show due to COVID-19 without letting me or my opening comedian know. I couldn't even put the cancellation on my website because...
- Not good was, instead of turning on, my
XPS
Dell XPS-13 laptop computer with 13.3" touch screen, 60WHr Integrated Battery, Windows 10, Intel 7th Generation Core i7 CPU, 16gb memory and 1TB SSD
stalled showing Alert! TMP device is not detected, whatever that meant. Nothing I could do seemed to work and critical information I needed was inacessible, backed up back in Phoenix or online.
- Most everything else went on hold while trying to figure out how to use my little Alcatel show media computer to cover. No dice.
- Got to bed at 9:45, trying to make up for last night.
Wed Apr 14 = After taking care of my morning routine I decided to bite the bullet and take my
XPS
Dell XPS-13 laptop computer with 13.3" touch screen, 60WHr Integrated Battery, Windows 10, Intel 7th Generation Core i7 CPU, 16gb memory and 1TB SSD
into the Geek Squad at a San Antonio Best Buy not too far from the post were I will be doing Saturday's show.
- Hannah Brecht of the Geek Squad was magic. She turned on my computer and it worked! She also turned the encryption off so I no longer have to worry about a 28-character ID code to get my stuff. Of course I rote a thank-you note to Corie Barry in Richfield, MN, the CEO of Best Buy. Hopefully my note will gain momentum by the time it filters down to Hannah.
- During the several hours it took my XPS to unencrypt its hard drive, I updated my website's blog and Comedy Home Pages, paid off all my credit cards etc.
- By the time I got out to my van for lunch, it was already a little after supper time, so I had a really late lunch and my supper about two hours late.
- Got to bed at 10:34 at a Walmart in the same area as the Best Buy, some gyms, an Office Max and
VFW Post#7108 where I will be doing Saturday's show with Dr Mike opening for me :)
Thu Apr 15 = I spent all morning in my van organizing my day, sending an email to the San Antonio NBC Affiliate and getting posters etc. loaded on my USB fob for printing at a nearby Office Max.
- Divade at the Office Max kept his cool while helping more customers than one person should be allowed to handle. He printed 8-up microposters for Saturday's show with Previously Seen At on the back, which I cut up for 32 microposters to hand out the next couple of days. He also printed my calendar grid on color-coded paper so I can start scheduling my 2022 tour.
- I did a short slow heavy torso workout at a nearby Snap Fitness. For some reason, my Snap Fitness card was not valid for this location, but Matt let me work out anyway.
- At the gym I got my bank statement downloaded and four new photos containing 14 people added to my Fans Web Page.
- I tried two different credit unions for depositing cash from Saturday's T-Shirt sales. Neither would accept my deposit, although one of them should have because it was a Shared Branch.
- Got to bed at 10:34 in a parking lot between Snap Fitness and Walmart. It was a quiet night except about midnight, from the engine sounds and the squealing of tires, two cars were doing donuts in a parking lot about .2 miles away. Then, at about 2:00, across my own parking lot in front of Dollar Tree, some gals were having some drunk fun by loud talking that was mostly yelling.
heald out well. It powered my refrigerator all night and my computer this morning and still showed 12.47 volts with the refrigerator and computer running. Yesterday I charged the LiFeMnPO up to about 14.2V, at 19A down to about 295w by by letting my van idle quite a bit.
- I did a workout at the nearby Gold's Gym, although my Gold's card did not get me in. Something about franchise and non-franchise locations. Then I did some grocery shopping at HEB. My first time in one of their fine stores since South Padre Island, about 8 years ago.
- I drove, not too far, to the
VFW Post#7108 and met the bar tender (I think it was Terri Ford) and a few of the patrons. The first four that I talked to knew nothing about tomorrow evening's comedy show. Hopefully we'll have a good turnout.
- After some driving around and hunting, I never found no automatic touchless car wash, so settled for a do-it-yourself car wash. At my request, gentleman there who was hosing off the area sprayed my van and magnetic signs to make it easier for me to wash the signs off. Before pulling into a stall, I scrubbed off most of the bugs and removed the magnetic signs. I used just about all the available features and spent over $9 in the process.
- Last thing before turning in I drove three miles to do a workout at an Anytime Fitness gym and spend the night parked west of their building.
- Got to bed at 10:58. The low was 54° F with a cold north wind all afternoon, night and up 'til noon on Saturday.
Sat Apr 17 = What a day! I spent some time at Anytime Fitness and updated my blog then, in the shade of a tree, took a half hour nap due to a headache, went to Gold's Gym where they had my corporate tag ready to pick up, then on to the VFW Post 1708 to set up for tonight's show.
- This was my fourth show to have an opening comedian and my first one with Dr Mike. He did a good job and was also very helpful. We had an appreciative audience of 17 which laughed a lot.
- After the show everything had to go like clockwork for me to get to Little Rock, AR in time for the 8:00 Open Mic at the
Hibernia Irish Tavern . I went to a nearby Walmart to do a little shopping and spend the night.
- Got to bed at 10:22
Sun Apr 18 = Efficiency was the name of the game today. I made it to Little Rock in plenty of time and, on the way, even included a 12-minute nap in the shade of a Grace Baptist Church tree and a stop by an Office Max to make mini posters for Wednesday's show.
- I got to the
Hibernia Irish Tavern in time to chill out and get on the list for the 8pm show. Russel Rogers, the host, put me at #6. My Anamometer and Viagra sets went OK, but not as well as I expected.
- Russel asked me to make a guest appearance on his 7:00pm Thu show at
The Rail Yard here in Little Rock. The first time I have been asked to make a guest appearance. I have made guest appearances before, but only when I made the request.
- Bedtime was later than I would have liked, due to adding the show to Future Appearances on my Comedy Home Page.
- Got to bed at 11:28
Mon Apr 19 = This was a semi-relaxed day. I worked in my van in the Hibernia parking lot until a little after noon, went to a nearby Walmart, to a library until they closed at 6pm then back to the Walmart for the night. I did a little shopping, got my bedtime routine done and was in bed early.
- The first part of the night was on the miserable side. Since it was forecast to be cold (low of 43° F), I started with two layers of comforter and was hot, even with some body parts hanging out from under the covers. I switched to one layer of comforter and was OK. Toward morning I switched back to two layers.
- What I learned: When it's going to be cold, cool the van down as much as feasible, start with one layer of comforter and then switch to two when I get up to pee.
- Got to bed at 8:58 :)
Tue Apr 20 = The little 6-gallon jerry can for my van's running water systme lasted almost two weeks: 13 days to be exact, and that was using it for nearly ALL of my drinking water. I figure my system will do better if I don't keep changing waters.
- At the Fletcher Library -- Central Ark I downloaded Libre Office and GIMP to my
The little 10" Windows 10 computer I bought to get me by in Tobago in 2017 after my Dell XPS died. It's tight, with only 2gb RAM and a 32gb SSD hard drive, but the 128gb micro SD card I have in it helps a little.
computer. Now I can do almost everything with it that I can on my big
XPS
Dell XPS-13 laptop computer with 13.3" touch screen, 60WHr Integrated Battery, Windows 10, Intel 7th Generation Core i7 CPU, 16gb memory and 1TB SSD
.
- More good news! Curtis Mtheny, the comeander of the
VFW Post#4501 where I will be apprearing tomorrow night, arranged for me to make a radio appearance: Wed Apr 21, 2021; 10:00am;
KWOZ Radio; 103.2 FM; Batesville, AR. Isn't that great?
- This news changed my scheduled stop by a gym. I spent some time in the library trying to collect the information requested by the FAA people for my pilot's medical... what a bureaucracy!
- After the library: get gas, drive to Batesville and locate the KWOZ studios, the VFW Post where I met Curtis, the commander and others.
- Tonight is expected to be the coldest yet with a forecast low of 34° F with a freeze warning.
- After working on tomorrows appearances, I got to bed at 11:00 on the for the coldest night, probably for this entire trip. The low was forecast for 33° F. It got down to 45° F in the front seat of my van. I did OK under two layers of comforter and my giant beach towel which I added at 3:30. My toes, however, were cold the entire night with a baby comforter and sweatshirt added.
Wed Apr 21 = This morning I went to the studios of KWOZfor an interview with Gary Bridgman about tonight's show, portions of which he aired after the news at 3 and 5. Thanks Gary and Arkansas 103-3
KWOZ Radio
- Here's the poster for tonight's event. The post's five-foot version looked good.
- The show was a lot of fun. Commander, Curtis Matheny said they had the most people in five years out for an event. I'm glad that I could help their post out. A couple that I had invited at the local Kroger store even came to the show.
- Got to bed at 11:03 in back of the post in Batesville.
Thu Apr 22 = It took me forever to find the
The Rail Yard Little Rock with all the 6th street construction, but I had my first unsolicited guest appearance. If you watch the video, you can see that my Camera #1 battery died about 1:44 minutes into my set.
It was a very interesting place. I was the only clean comedian. Some families with children left before I went up. It WAS a good show, though.
- Got to bed at 10:42 in the parking lot across the street.
Fri Apr 23 = After breakfast drove around and finally found a library that was open to people inside... in North Little Rock. I got a lot done.
- I sent emails, still trying to get the things to Dr. Burr Ross, my flight surgeon, that the FAA wants for my pilot's medical.
- From the four cameras' storage devices, I transfered, processed and uploaded to YouTube last night's video (above).
- I may have figured out my Kindle. For a while, opening Arthur Canon Doyal gave me Mark Twain and the Kindle seemed to have lost the place to which I read. I hate that.
- I stayed until its closing at 6pm then headed to the VFW Post where I will be doing a show for the veterans there tomorrow evening.
- In the post's pool room Tim Hart of Searcy AR VFW Post 2330 (photo below) became my latest fan. I'm the little guy on the right.
- I sat at the post's Domino table and worked on my website. Maybe I'm losing my touch because it took about 45 minutes for me to do a simple thing with the above picture like, on my cell phone, select the picture, crop it, email it to myself and, with my computer, get it up on my website :(
- Got to bed at 10:56 in the VFW parking lot. It drizzled practically all night.
Sat Apr 24 = Today was a full day of doing what needed to be done, including shopping at Kroger, doing my laundry and hunting for a credit union ATM that would accept my T-Shirt cash. Never found the latter. For drying my clothes at the laundry, I found several dryer sheets on the floor, still stiff, so I threw them in the dryer with my clothes. They did the job just fine. Then on to
VFW Post#2330 to set up for the show. It was a small, but fun and engaged audience of 14.
- Got to bed at 10:45 During the night I had a, now rare,
LVD
Low-Voltage Disconnect. To avoid battery damage, it shuts off the load of my LiFeMnPO battery at 11.5 Volts.
.
Sun Apr 25 = I spent first third of the day in my office (the domino table at
VFW Post#2330 in Searcy) before heading south to North Little Rock. In Searcy I filled up with gas. Turns out it was about 10¢ cheaper than in Little Rock.
- My first stop was The MFP Bar & Grill for what I thought was going to be an open mic. It turned out that it was prebooked so I drove on to Hibernia where I was last week.
- Some others and I expected the show to start at its usual 7pm. but it had been moved to 9:30, so I hosted a 7pm show with Jon Jon and me doing 10 minutes each. Then I went out in my van and took a half hour nap and came back in for the 9:30 show.
- My raunchy set at that show did not go over as well as I expected. Next time I'll admit it when my set is raunchy.
- After driving around some I ended up at a Walmart for the night.
- Got to bed at about 12:45am
Mon Apr 26 After checking the weather forecast and rubbing most of the bugs off the front, I washed my van at a touchless automatic car wash.
- After several tries and a phone call to Arizona Federal Credit Union in Phoenix I was able to deposit cash from my merch sales via the United Arkansas Federal Credit Union here in Little Rock.
- At the Dee Brown Library, I spent all afternoon ordering two customized publicity kits for Office Depot to ship for my Virginia appearances and other things connected with my comedy tour.
- After the library closed, I decided that I was going to finally get my thank you notes into the mail. Some of my motivation was finding a post office down the street.
- Mine was the only vehicle in the post office parking lot where I camped out in office mode, writing thank you notes to the five posts so far on my tour. About nine o'clock a black car came barreling toward the side of my van and stopped just short of it. Thank goodness for good brakes.
- Out jumped a Black man who tapped on the hood of my van. I opened my passenger sliding door and introduced myself. William said he was wondering who was in his parking lot. It turns out that he was the postmaster; post office, #1 in the country. He was taking some special mail and took my five thank you notes, so they went out immediately :)
- After I told him what I was all about, he said it was fine for me to spend the night there and that he would tell the police so they could keep an eye on my. Such a guy!
- Got to bed at 10:34
Tue Apr 27 = This morning I found the largest Goodwill facility that I have ever seen. It was a building about a quarter mile long with separate entrances for their Excel Center, Donation Center, Computer Store and Outlet Store. At the latter I found a pair of short heavy socks to keep my feet warm in the mornings.
- I went back to the same credit union as yesterday to get a two of their generic Shared Branch deposit slips so I can make copies with my information added. Hopefully this will save me time in the future.
- I spent the rest of the day organizing publicity kit posters for my July shows. For the night I drove up to a Walmart in North Little Rock.
- Got to bed at 10:14
Wed Apr 28 = After breakfast and a little Walmart shopping (they did not have Hebrew National 97% fat-free beef franks), a stop at a Kroger (still no HN97%FFF) and Esporta Fitness for a short heavy slow legs workout, I ended up at the Laman Library, Argenta Branch, which did not allow people inside to use the Internet. I had poor Internet in the parking. I updated my Blog & Comedy Home Page using my Android phone as a hot spot.
- My last stand up comedy appearance in Little Rock was fantastic, at the
Four Quarter Bar in North Little Rock. This fun, energetic and supportive group bought two T-Shirts.
Miles Dougherty, Lou, Lauren Macklemore, Mica Brooks & Hunter Harris; Four Square, N Little Rock AR 4/28/21
Zane Lovelady, a local blind comedian was an excellent host. It was a fun audience of 34, raising my total audience count to 31,743 :)
- After my set I headed out to spend the night about 40 miles south at the Pine Bluff AR Walmart. Having no shade tree was not a problem because it was cloudy in the morning. As a matter of fact, it was cloudy all night with periods of rain.
- Got to bed at 11:20.
Thu Apr 29 I have always had some trouble with time and dates. That was accentuated today when I arrived at Gulfport, MS. I was thinking I had a show this Saturday. Turns out it is NEXT Saturday. What to do with an extra week on my hands? Prepare emails to posts etc. related to my tour; put my entire tour on my comedy home page; visit some gyms, get a little sun at Long Beach and maybe even do a little kiteboarding.
- At the Office Depot in Northern Gulfport I printed and cut 24 mini-posters for my Gulfport and Pascagoula shows. WiFi was neither available in my van nor through my phone so I headed southwest to the Long Beach Walmart. On the way I found a McDonalds with good WiFi from the parking lot in my van. I stayed up too late working on my blog, but got the picture (above) of my new friends in North Little Rock at the Four Quarter Bar, up on FANS.
- Got to bed at 11:32 :()
Fri Apr 30 = What a BIG JOB! After my usual morning Walmart shopping I located the City of Long Beach library and got seven Press Kit proofs emailed to the last posts for my tour - in Ohio - in July.
It seemed to work well to have an assembly line approach to:
Use a section of VFW AmLegion Confirmation email subject+s.txt to keep track of the posts and of my progress:
Create all the posters at once
Write a modifiable boiler plate email
Put the body of the email in a Notepad text file
At this point have open windows to switch between:
Schedule web page
Specific Posters folder
Email window
VFW AmLegion Confirmation email subject+s.txt
The email in the Notepad text file
Compose all emails and attach the publicity kit posters and instruction sheets
Check that all the emails have the correct posters
Send all the emails
