Fri May 1 = My first day on OBX was full and busy at:
Brett, at Chrysler, checked and lubricated my rear hatch latch and said it is operating normally and not binding
Outer Banks Sports Club for a shower and light full-body workout
Hatteras National Seashore administrative offices in Manteo (five miles to the west, but a 15-mile drive due to Roanoke Sound) to touch bases with Steve Thompson (head of park permits) about my Comedy n Sunset
Library in Manteo to update my website
Various places to put up Comedy n Sunset posters, which ended up mostly in Avon (N-S) at:
Midgett Realty
Ride Hatteras (micro poster taped to counter)
Ocean Air - microposters on back of monitor & on hallway bulletin board.
Sunco, on Arcadia door
Outer Beaches Realty
Surf or Sound Realty
Post Office
Hatteras Realty (PDF version for their website emailed)
Sun Realty
Askins Creek BP (microposter on BB by bathrooms
Food Mart (Buxton by Red Drum gas station)
Connor's Grocery (Buxton)
Hatteras Civic Center (way south in Hatteras Village) where I did about five minutes of impromptu comedy for the Hatteras Storytelling Festival during a pause between two of their guest acts. Although expensive ($35 for the evening), it was an excellent combination of stories and music by Elvin Hooper, Danny Couch (AKA Cookie etc.) and Clifford Swain and his brother, Buddy. Cliff is awesomely creative, writing songs about anything he came across, like his new generator.
- I spent the night there at the Civic Center with the lowest forecast low yet this trip of 49 degrees. Under my van it got down to 53 degrees.
Sat May 2 = Wind today was awesome, but too cold for the old Phoenix guy... and some others. North of Buxton I stopped by The Buxton Slick, South1, Kite Point and Canadian Hole (Haulover Day Use Area) to say high to my kiteboarding friends and to promote my comedy show on Tuesday. I spent several hours at the Haulover updating this blog (ugh). Later I did a little shopping at Food Lion and practiced a 34-minute routine, in anticipation of Tuesday.
- A little calculating and cogitation showed that my Garmin Nuvi 885T, in it's current configuration and with a little over 600 waypoints etc. keeps about 1,825 miles of track log.
- Spent the night in Avon. The low temperature of 53 degrees pretty well matched the 54-degree forecast.
Sun May 3 - I visited Ride Hatteras a little this morning then headed north to Ocean Air, then to Kitty Hawk Kites, north Avon parking lot where I used a little low spot at its edge to check out my non-functioning windshield washer and A/C-Heater blower motor. The fuses seem to be OK, so I'll plan on driving the hour up to Outer Banks Chrysler to have them take a look at it all.
- A little before noon I drove down to Ocean Ramp 38 south of Avon to work on some computer projects (what else is new) and fix and eat lunch. About 1pm I went out to the beach and sunned and did a beach run. Post-run pulse was 151. After the run it was 10:50am in Phoenix and time to report in to Melvin (a fellow student at the Comedy Spot in Scottsdale) to let them know what I've been up to and that I was thinking of them.
- Then I drove down to Canadian Hole for several hours before heading to Dollar Tree where the new manager, Donna, checked me out with my sweet pickle relish. Then to Food Lion or a few groceries.
- Pretty much on my schedule I headed north to Kill Devil Hills. By heading out later (about 5pm) I missed the heavy weekend traffic and still arrived before dusk when the bugs would mess up the front of the new paint job on my van. I made several stops on the way, including CVS and Walgreen.
- All along the way today I had fun telling people about my Tuesday kick-off comedy show.
- It took too long, but I added this wind cage to my Technology web paage
With our WIND CAGE invention we have made quality stereo audio recordings in over 20 mph winds. We cover our microphone with a dead cat and put it inside the cage, which has zip-tie hinges and a magnetic latch.
- Spent the night in the parking lot of Kill Devil Hills Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge
Mon May 4 = I got a free oil change. It took me three hours and I did not plan it that way. OBX Chrysler fixed my windshield washer (tubing failure) and the blower motor (new resistor, motor and a loose connection). I didn't notice that they forgot to charge me for the oil change, since it was an afterthought, until I was at the Blum Senior Center in my van, reading the receipt during my lunch. I phoned them and Harvey said that they had a real good special on an oil change today... for me. FREE! Thanks, Harvey!
- Trying to keep the information flowing, I added a link to this poster on my Comedy web page:
- Spent the night in Avon.
Tue May 5 = Posters, Comedy, Kite & Comedy today, with Canadian Hole between.. I put a couple posters out at new places in Avon, finalized my comedy routine for tonight's 14 minutes. It's a good thing I did a live dress rehearsal, because it took about twice as much material as I expected. For the dress rehearsal I ran along the beach about .2 miles south of Canadian Hole where I was all alone.
- About 4 this afternoon I went out on the broad beach on the ocean side at Ramp 38 and pumped up my first kite of the season - my 15.7m Epic Renegade Infinity for some beach drags and jumps. Not enough wind to do anything else. Just wanted to make sure everything was OK, including my set-up.
- The season kick-off of Comedy-n-Sunset this evening started out with a sparse crowd of two Canadians and ended up with nine. Maybe they learned that the show HAS to start on time in order to end just before sunset. I learned to get the people sitting close together. I should have known. People don't laugh much sitting two here and there. Because of their sitting apart, it would have been better if I had done a little more crowd work, which I need to work on, anyway.
Wed May 6 = During a phone call to Dymo about my DateMark I fixed it by removing all the batteries, including the clock battery and reinstalling them.
- I made a number of phone calls around the country, trying to keep my life properly organized.
- Spent the night in Hatteras Village by the ferry Docks in anticipation of tomorrow's easterly wind.
Thu May 7 = My alarm rang this morning at 5:50 - intentionally. I drove north to the Bath House for better cell phone signal and phoned Jody on Beach 104 Radio. He interviewed me a little about kiteboarding and my Comedy-n-Sunset and put the interview on the air at about 6:15. Then I went back to bed for an hour.
- My first kiteboarding session of the season was 1.5 hours at the washout on the sound side with my new AXIS Vanguard 132 x 41cm twin-tip board. What an upwind-going board! I felt like a foreigner, though, not speaking French. It was the most crowded I have ever seen it there, with the parking lot full and cars parked along Highway 12. I was planning to stay out two hours, but the leading edge of my 12m Epic Screamer was getting very soft and squishy.
- Back up at Canadian Hole I prepared for the evening's Comedy-n-Sunset show. It was a fun audience of 6 - all native English speakers. The neat thing is that most of them came specifically for the comedy show. One poor guy arrived on his bicycle from Buxton... just as the show ended. I can't start the show late, because the sunset doesn't wait (would you believe I'm a poet?).
- Spent the night in Avon
Fri May 8 = This morning I headed down to Food Lion to pick up some groceries (forgot cottage cheese) for a possibly spending the night in Rodanthe. On the way north I stopped by a bunch of places where I had posted my comedy shows to change the end date from June 8th to June 9th and to add PROMPTLY AT to the 7:30 starting time. At Kitty Hawk Kites in Rodanthe, I said high to everyone and fixed my 12's main bladder. The leak was another valve flange delaminating
, which seems to be typical of this Epic Screamer. This does not speak well for Epic Kites. Sorry Dimitri.
- I visited the Billy Mitchell Pilot's Lounge. Their Wi-Fi does not work and their old computer appears to have the Crypto Locker virus on it so is useless. I left their new (this year) fancy Lenovo computer on all night installing its updates. That is how out-of-date their Windows 8 was.
- Spent the night in Frisco.
Sat May 9 = I spent several hours this morning in the Billy Mitchell Pilot's Lounge organizing and researching airline tickets to the Dominican Republic. The plan is to buy the cheapest I can find on Tuesday or Wednesday at 12:01 am: Eastern Time for US Air, based in Miramar, FL and Central Time for American Airlines, based in Ft Worth, TX. US Air will charge me $110 more for my luggage than American, so I'll have to keep that in mind. Altogether I can expect to pay about $690 for the round trip and $300 for over-sized luggage.
- After lunch at the Bath House I drove up to Kite Point where there were some kiters out with an easterly off-shore wind - mostly on 12s. Just after I put on my wetsuit it started to rain a little. I checked the RADAR and promptly took off my wetsuit and stowed my gear.
- Next stop was Canadian Hole for a couple hours or so finalizing my routine outline for Tuesday, including some new introductory material. I read some of Judy Carter's book and re-wrote my SUP routine to take it out of past tense and out of the story-telling mode. I also did some publicity for the show.
Food Lion was my next stop with a pretty good publicity strategy that seemed to work really well for my stand-up comedy shows:
Weekend (8:30pm if it's been sunny; afternoon if it's been rainy) when people are just moving in and doing their shopping for the week
Catch people in the parking lot as they are unloading their carts
Catch people in the store with full carts
Make some smart remark about their shopping for an army or ditching their spouses
Have my 8.5x11 cardboard poster handy
Have plenty of microposters
Everybody appreciated my information and thanked me
- I intended on spending the night behind Dollar Tree, but it was too dark for me to park without taking a chance of touching one of my new bumpers to something, so I went up to Ride Hatteras for the night.
Sun May 10 = At Ramp 38 I figured the distances to six comedy clubs on the way back to Phoenix. Then at Canadian Hole, preparing for my return to Phoenix, I composed emails to six comedy clubs. I might be able to do longer, but figured start a little smaller and see if I can get an opener gig (10-15 minutes) on the way home.
- Next, up to the back of Dollar Tree to practice parking my van while it was still light and I could see what I was doing. I have to nestle it between a big dumpster, a wall, some AC units and a ramp.
- Next up to Ride Hatteras where I found the six clubs' email addresses and sent them emails. It surely took me a long time.
- Spent the night, for the first time this season, behind Dollar Tree That location is quiet at night and in total shade through most of the morning. With several attempts, I got my van parked just right. The practice earlier paid off and I appreciated my new backup camera.
Mon May 11 = Today I paid three credit card bills and downloaded my DSFCU checking statement. Thanks for the Internet and the west end of your bar, Good Winds Cafe
I kited for a little over a half hour with my 8m Best Nemesis on my AXIS Vanguard 132 x 41cm twin-tip board. I was well powered and it was GUSTY!
- I met Addison and agreed to meet tomorrow morning here at KHK at 10:30 do the Planet Run.
- This evening I took a shower (Thanks Kitty Hawk Kites) and Spent the night there in Rodanthe.
Tue May 12 = At 10:30 this morning 21-year-old Addison, whom I met yesterday, met in the Kitty Hawk paring lot for a Planet-of-the-Apes downwinder. It was awesome as usual. With my 8 and on my new twin-tip, I took both canals and all three slicks but skipped some of the stuff toward the last because Addison was well ahead of me and she needed to get to work later.
- I quit kiting early to prepare for the comedy show.
- Comedy-n-Sunset tonight started out with four people, but they came out with their lawn chairs specifically for the comedy show so were good listeners and laughers. A guy joined us and stood at the back. Along came crazy Linda Loopy with her little dog. Linda Loopy said she was my doubleganger and did comedy in Hatteras. She did not make a whole log of sense, but was full of energy and smart remarks. The audience probably thought it was a set up. I gave her three minutes, which gave the audience a couple of laughs. The show was a good one and the audience of six could hardly stop laughing with my Voice joke and my closing. My performance: Linda Loopy threw me off a little. Had I been a little more experienced or practiced, I would have included more of my material. However, that was not necessary, as Linda Loopy took up some of the time or the material which I did not need tonight.
- What a waste! I spent most of the time after the comedy show until I went to bed after 2:30am trying to schedule flights to the Dominican Republic, finding the best prices and dates, which airlines are more baggage friendly etc. After I pressed the final button I got an Orbitz Oopse page, not knowing if I had been charged, scheduled or just wasted my time.
- Spent the night, pointed south (due to a south wind) behind the Dollar Tree (south Avon).
Wed May 13 = This morning I drove down to the Hot Line Thrift Store, looking for a power cord for my
Vaio
Sony Vaio Duo 11 computer with 11.6" touch screen, Windows 8.1, 8gb memory and 256gb SSD
and printer - same cord. Now if I need a cord longer than my four-inch one I have to get out my extension cord.
- I bought airline tickets to The Dominican Republic, spending today mostly trying, two more times with Orbitz, figuring I was doing something wrong and then, in less than a half hour, booking the flights for only $20 more. Thanks, Expedia and shame on you, Orbitz. Your buttons and check boxes did not select or check and lead to continuous loops.
- This evening I worked on the comedy that I should have been working on in the morning.
- Spent the night in south Avon behind Dollar Tree.
Thu May 14 = I was awakened by banging on my van windows this morning (see tomorrow's blog).
- Driving, I've been trying to reprogram my lane-change habits with my wider inside rear view mirror and little wide-angle addition on the driver's side rear view mirror. The goal, to make a habit to look in a front-to-rear order:
inside rear view mirror
for lane changes to the right, right side of the inside rear-view mirror to check the right-side blind spot
outside rear view mirror
lane changes to the left, little outside wide angle rear view mirror
over my shoulder in the direction of the lane change
- For the first time for Comedy-n-Sunset this year, I had my act really together with my routine printed out and my trigger notes computer-printed on a 4x6 card... and no audience showed up... until Ted and his wife stopped by on the way from Buxton to Rodanthe. Although they were not dressed for the cold and windy conditions, they wanted to show support for my comedy. Ted and I stood outside their car and I did 12 minutes of car-window comedy for him and his wife who sat inside.
- Then to Turner's Half Moon Bar for their open mic - all musicians but me. I did a couple of comedy segments of about 5 and three minutes between their music sets. It was the typical inattentive music bar crowd, but at least they got a little comedy and I got a little exposure. I'll probably do it again next Thursday.
Fri May 15 = I'm starting to get a jaded view of law enforcement and paranoid about parking my van. Thursday morning I received knocks on my van windows. I guess a maintenance man didn't get a response from me, so called the sheriff's office; Deputy Hickman showed up, banged on the window some more, called a tow truck (which had arrived) said the written permission in my windshield was no longer any good and he has had it with me because I was shitting in a bag and putting it in the dumpster. I don't blame the deputy for being upset if I had ever done or even thought of doing such a thing. I can live without being able to park behind Dollar Tree where it is quiet and shady in the mornings, but people spreading atrocious stories is another matter.
- Then, this afternoon, Charlie said that Andy had a problem with my parking in the back yard,
so I spent the night outside (to the east) of the fence. It is a little bit nosier and sunnier in the mornings. There's always a good side: I can get the Free from Ride Hatteras Internet and the loud partying from the backyard bar is not as noticeable, so it is still works. Thank you, Charlie!
Sat May 16 = I had breakfast in the Ramp 38 parking lot with the van aimed due east for minimal solar heat. Then on to Canadian Hole to one of the diagonal parking slots, pointing southeast for the same reason. I processed four audio files from Thursday's comedy and sheriff deputy contact. Then switched to a north-facing parallel spot where I, among other things, riveted a sticky-back Velcro patch to the side of my van's driver's seat to hold a little dustpan/broom and installed two index pins on my adapted anemometer mast so it will not rotate in the wind, giving more accurate wind direction information.
- At Ride Hatteras after supper, I had a nice talk with Charlie and pulled a few weeds from a couple of his flower beds.
- I got a lady to cry in Food Lion, but she asked for it, though... a sample of my comedy. My sample is always Roman Numerals. Her eyes teared up, she was laughing so hard, along with the rest of her group. I was doing my usual weekend evening shopping combined with Comedy-n-Sunset publicity.
Sun May 17 = This morning I drove up to
KHK
Kitty Hawk Kites kiteboarding center in Rodanthe, NC.
to do some web stuff and because that area had the best forecast wind. I contacted Rick Whiting of the Dave Ramsey team about getting special pre-announcement tickets for his Smart Conference in Phoenix in October.
- I KITEBOARDED two sessions, locally at KHK. The first, about an hour was on my Naish Custom Fish 5'2" x 17.5" surfboard with no footstraps with my 12m Epic Screamer. I made all but one of my jibes and also practiced a bunch of jump-up starts with the surfboard. The kite came back very soft. This is the same kite in which I fixed a delaminating valve flange only nine days ago. IEpic Kites don't seem to be well made. The session involved quite a bit of kite pumping.
- The second session was only a half hour long on my AXIS Vanguard 132 x 41cm twin-tip board and with my 8m Best Nemesis. The wind had picked up some so the 8 worked with some kite pumping.
- Every day I am reading a little of The Comedy Bible and doing most of the exercises. That's bad news and good news. It shows me how rough my comedy is and how far I need to go and, at the same time, heads me in that direction. I just wish I was a smarter, more creative cookie. Oopse- I forgot that I am supposed to be having fun with this comedy thing
- I got off the water a little early so I could make it down to Avon's Food Lion in time for the weekend evening rush.
George's
younger brother who lives in Mesa with his wife
phoned and we got caught up on some visiting. Their, new store-front, church has a new pastor, by unanimous vote.
GOOD LUCK, ALL!
Mon May 18 = I'm so slow! It took me all morning to send out emails for my lodging in the Dominican Republic next month - double checking the date, of course. None of the websites showed my dates as available. I'll plan on spending two weeks in each, Cabarette and Las Terrenas.
- I spent over an hour re-researching comedy T-shirts, deciding on one (not ideal, but close), then ordering it from Zazzle for $36.44, including shipping. After that I got the bright idea that some of the big T-shirt stores in Avon might have something about comedy. All this took so long that I got to bed about 12:40am, north Avon.
New T-shirt design with the help of Tim of Deep Blue in Avon, NC.
Tue May 19 = First thing this morning I went to the aforementioned T-shirt stores. All they had were OBX shirts, but Deep Blue has a plotter-type stencil cutter for custom designs. Tim there let me search the Internet for suitable clip art, so now I have this COMEDY T shirt. In case you are interested in one, just pick your shirt color, shirt size and design color and contact Tim. I paid him some extra money, so the first five people who buy an arizonalou.com T-shirt will get $5 off and the second five people will get $1 off regular price, which is already reasonable for such quality. Thanks for your good service, Tim. Of course I phoned and cancelled the online T-shirt I ordered from Zazzle last night.
- For the past five days I have picked two news stories and written ten jokes each. I have incorporated the best jokes into my comedy routine of the day. A pretty good technique from Judy Carter's Comedy Bible.
- The rest of the day was mostly spent preparing for and publicizing tonight's comedy show. I have had so many people say they're definitely coming that I am slightly concerned about having too many people (can there be too many?). Of course I have had that concern before but too many has never happened.
- Rain nixed tonight's comedy show, but I went to Canadian Hole, just in case. As I was waiting for showtime, I took pictures of my new T-shirt, worked on this blog and processed some pictures from my van's repaint. Of course no one showed up for the comedy, although the rain mostly subsided by sunset.
- This evening I worked on my website in front of Dollar Tree for about an hour, then to Deep Blue's parking lot to update my website and do my email and calendar, then to Ride Hatteras for the night. Thanks, Charlie!
Wed May 20 = This morning I drove up to Waves to buy two AirTime Valve Traps from Real Kites to repair two more delaminating valve bases on my Epic Screamer, then on to Rodanthe where I did a beach sun/run south of the Rodanthe Pier, then to Kitty Hawk Kites where I fixed the Screamer. I had to pull out half of the kite's main bladder (ugh). Since I had run out of vegetables and some other stuff, I got a chicken spinach salad at the Good Winds Cafe where I checked my email and updated my website. Spent the night there in Rodanthe.
Thu May 21 = Comedy was rained out again tonight, after I had the show so well prepared.
- Later I went to the High Moon Bar where I gave a five-minute comedy interlude between the musicians.
- Got to bed about 12:40 am in north Avon.
Fri May 22 = This morning I headed out relatively early, after a stop at Deep Blue to change my second Arizona Lou T-shirt order to black and to Food Lion for a banana and grapefruit, to Kite Point and rode for about a half hour on my AXIS Vanguard 132 x 41cm twin-tip board with my 15.7m Epic Renegade Infinity until the wind started getting a little unpredictable.
- I was like a kid in a candy store, sitting in the cab of a big, 16-wheel state-of-the-art dump truck with three castering drop axles etc. Big, Black Jeff, the driver, kindly let me take his seat while he explained many of the truck's features. Thanks, Jeff. He was waiting at Canadian hole with some asphalt on-board for repairing the southwest corner of the Canadian Hole parking lot. Later I met Chuck, the contractor doing the job. The world is certainly full of nice people!
Sat May 23 = This morning first thing I went to Deep Blue and ordered 2 more Arizona Lou T shirts. Maybe I'll get one as tank top for the gym. Later, after buying a grapefruit at Food Lion, I washed my van, including undercarriage rinse, at Askins Creek BP. Then I headed down to Canadian Hole where I read some from The Comedy Bible. When I learn something new from the book, I'll go through my routine and tweak it accordingly. Today it was to pause to give the audience time to understand the joke and then time to laugh (keeping the attitude or emotion during the pauses) and maybe adding tags to the joke.
- This afternoon I did a beach sun/run at Ramp 38, drove down to Frisco Tackle and visited with Bob, the owner, and then on to Hatteras Billy Mitchell air strip where I gave airport advisories while I worked on stuff until about 7:30. Then I drove up to Canadian Hole for the sunset and to tell people about my show Tuesday. Most of the sunset watchers are leaving before Tuesday. There were about 70 people watching the sunset.
- Practicing my half hour show is overwhelming, so I thought of breaking it down into 5 sections and practicing each one separately - just have to get it done. There's always tomorrow...
Spent the night in Avon.
Sun May 24 = Today's big project was to decide on my route home (I-40), comedy possibilities on the way and write a bunch of emails to put it all together. I Met Dan Cormier, my friend from Quebec, who had just arrived on Hatteras Island with his family and Carl and his girlfriend. I also met (my request) with sheriff deputy, Steve Hickman, in the Gingerbread House parking lot since the bakery was closed. We had a good visit and got acquainted.
Smart Conference: I phoned some Phoenix family about attending with me. I bought three tickets to the event. It includes these nationally known figures on people, relationships, finance and religion:
Dave Ramsey
Chris Hogan
Henry Coud
Meg Meeker
Rachel Cruze
Less Parrott
Michael Jr.
Mon May 25 = My voice lasted for the 30 minutes of my routine rehearsal at volume. I did a beach run with a pulse of 154 after.
Tue May 26 = For publicity I phoned a recording for The Coastal Times newspaper. While I was phoning, I phoned Moon Valley Nursery back home in Phoenix. They advised me to increase my myoporum watering to 3-4 gallons every 1-2 days. I phoned my neighbor, Ken about making the adjustment.
- I had a record 19 in attendance for tonight's Comedy-n-Sunset where I did my signature Old Man routine, but I blew it when I left my note card in the van, started forgetting things and then had to go up to my van to get the card... and I videoed it all.
- After the show I drove down fur supper and fellowship with Oto and Jenny, from Chapel Hill, NC. We typically get together at least once each spring. Oto is a good cook and we had fresh fish. I spent the night with them at their campsite in Frisco Woods. We talked past midnight around their camp fire.
Wed May 27 = I slept in while Oto and Jenny went fishing off the cape. I paid for a day pass, because the camp ground wanted to put me in my own camp spot at $44, instead of with Oto and Jenny for $6 for me plus $6 for my van. Around noon I sunned on the grass and swam out in the sound. The water was so shallow that I had to walk all the way out to the four pylons and, even then, the water was barely deep enough to swim.
- Impromptu comedy, OKd by Buster the owner of Frisco Woods Campground, saw an audience of 23. It was a good, fun, group... and I remembered my notes, having taped them to my stool, which I drove up to Avon Dollar Tree to get before the show.
Thu May 28 = Tonight was a first: one of the 13 audiance members threw sand at me. It's not what it sounds like. There was a little three-year-old boy running around during the show, throwing sand. What a better place for him than the beach at the Haulover area? He and a 5-year-old girl in which he was infatuated, made the show a little more entertaining.
- Later, at the Half Moon Bar, I found they had discontinued their Thursday open mic. Instead they had a first class musician, Mojo Collins. He graciously let me do an 8:38 minute comedy set during his break.
Fri May 29 = I spent much of the day at Hatteras Mitchell airport, manning the unicom, giving airport advisories to pilots. I also sent a deposit via PayPal to Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic for lodging there the last part of July.
- A father and his 8-year old son flew into the airport in with their Grumman American Tiger with their back packs with bed rolls and firewood. They headed down to the nearby campground for father-son camping.
- In the telephone department, I tried, unsuccessfully, to contact Ken, my neighbor about reprogramming my drip system and had a good 20-minute phone call with Rose Ann (my X) to catch up on things. She just returned from Germany, visiting our daughter, Anne, Robby and family.
Sat May 30 = This morning the father-son team hiked back up to the airport from their campsite, got in some beach time and then took off for home in their their Grumman American Tiger airplane. I hung around the airport until late afternoon, giving airport adviories and meeting some more nice pilots.
- I reserved a JetPak experience for Wednesday, June 3rd up in Manteo - hopefully with Audrey, of Kitty Hawk Kites who did the booking.
JetPak Rocket Science: Fire hose on a Jet Ski 8:37 minutes of entertainment and information
FlyBoard uses the same principle
- This evening I spent about an hour in the busy Food Lyon parking lot publicizing my Comedy-n-Sunset. Catching people as they were loading all their groceries seemed to be a good plan.
- Spent the night in north Avon
Sun May 31 = This morning I went to the Food Lion Parking Lot where I fixed breakfast and then went in to buy some Key Lime yogurt, then on to Dollar Tree, Canadian Hole from from where I hiked over to the Atlantic Ocean for some sun and a beach run (ending pulse was 167 after a 4:06 run), lunch, a nap and on down to Hatteras Mitchell Field to work on comedy, Blog, Van Life etc.
Back-up Camera that mounts over the licence plate (links & more)
- I finally added this picture of my back camera to my Van Life and Van Repaint web pages. Hint: Buy the backup camera kit from Fry's Electronics, but DO NOT USE the camera that comes with the kit. Instead spend an extra $40 for this vertically aimable licence-plate camera.
- Spent the night in north Avon
