Sun 8/1 - Continuing to go to a gym most every day (LA Fitness, Bally's or PVCC Fitness Center); working out details on paying a friend $100 for listening to the Dave Ramsey Show for a month (find it with my Favorite talk show hosts)
Mon 8/2 - Continuing to move a load of granite (gravel) in my back yard every morning: aim is to reduce the depth of the granite to where it should be (1.5 inches). When I originally put the back yard in, I figured the more the better and got the granite way too deep so the rain water does not pool properly away from the house.
Tue 8/3 - Made a spreadsheet for figuring my net worth. Your expected net worth is one tenth of your age multiplied by your annual income; heard a radio guest who invented the Ear-Bud Yoyo.
Wed 8/4 - Located the Ear-Bud Yoyo at Fry's Electronics in Tempe so stopped by and picked up three to help keep the cords from tangling when listing to talk shows on my C. Crane Witness MP3 player (find it on my Technology web page); good session at Gang Plank, where I met blind Brian who I introduced around. He is particularly interested in hardware. Also I got a working whistle that was "printed" with a special 3-D object printer.
Thu 8/5 - Found the Dyson Air Multiplier bladeless fan, which would be cool to have if it were quieter and less expensive.
Fri 8/6- Had a telephone consult with realtor, Travis Hyslop, about property values in the Wittmann area where I have two ten-acre parcels; researched plastic storage sheds, in case I decide to clean out my garage.
Sat 8/7 - Went to Stacie's (my niece) Bon Voyage Party at Shane's (my nephew) house. EVERYONE was there! I gave Stacie an Ear Bud Yoyo and copied the files on my eeePc900XP netbook computer to the 1tb external USB drive that George keeps at his house as my off-site backup
Sun 8/8 - Made a light-weight knit board bag for my 130 cm Lite Wave Stealth twin-tip board to protect it from scratching and prying eyes when I am traveling.
Mon 8/9 - Kiteboard equipment work today: up early and, in the early-morning shade to the east of my house, stretched out all four bar/line sets and measured their comparative lengths at various power settings; replace the Cabrinha IDS safety bungee, added a spinable rear-line safety flag feature to the IDS bar, made a light-weight knit board bag for my Naish Custom Fish 5’2” x 17.5” surfboard without foot straps to protect it from scratching and prying eyes when I am traveling; and online, paid the full balances (as always) of my four credit cards.
Tue 8/10 - Working with the Newton, Kansas Recreation Center on a special coupon for members of my 50-year class reunion in October.
Wed 8/11 - My Garmin seems to be near the top of the reviews, but still seems to have some problems, like occasionally locking up, spontaneous rebooting and disfiguring optimized routs. For example a multi-via-point route will be 71 miles (70% longer) after the Nuvi 885T optimization, when manually changing the via point order results in a 42-mile route. and much shorter driving time. Good session at Gangplank where I mostly worked on updating this blog.
Thu 8/26 - Bought new printer (Canon Pixma iP4820); helped the Dahlia tenants check the sprinkler system; took Mildred to Bally's Fitness Center; installed printer
Fri 8/27 through Tue 8/31 - I found the CD on which I had transferred all of my Herb Alpert Tijuana Brass albums using my USB turntable. Now I can add music and titles to my San Carlos video… if I can find time to get it done, which wil entail finding and figuring out all the video and support files on my 300gb external hard drive. Also in the website department, I added some neat quotes to the bottom of my LOUisms web page and a link to the South Padre Kite Roundup on my Shops & Links page.
- My kitchen counter is cluttered, and will probably be for a while, as I am going through my old video tapes and transferring them to DVD. What a job!
- Travel department: I sent my brand new passport to the LA Brazil consulate for a visa. It'll be a royal mess if it gets lost! Also I booked flights to my 50-year high school class reunion in Newton, Kansas.
